RCom cuts 3G tariffs; data plans now start Rs. 250/1GB



After Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular, Reliance Communications (RCom) has announced slashing 3G tariffs. RCom is offering 1GB of 3G data for Rs. 250 and 20p for each MB data used thereafter. Earlier, RCom charged Rs. 650 for 1GB of 3G data and 50p for each MB used thereafter. The operator claims to offer average savings of more than 90 percent, as compared to all other 3G plans in the market.
As per price revision, RCom will charge Rs. 450 for 2GB of 3G data per month. The operator has also introduced “My Best Plan” scheme, which is said to be suitable for first-time users – users opting for 6 GB/Rs. 1250 plan will not be charged more than 6GB of data usage. However, speed will be throttled after consumption 6GB of data usages.
RCom has also announced new unlimited data plans, starting at Rs. 750/5GB. Other two plans are Rs. 900/10 GB, Rs. 1,200/15GB respectively. After consumption unlimited data usages, speed will be throttled to 64kbps.
Announcing the launch of the new 3G tariff plan, Sanjay Behl, Group Head – Brand & Marketing, RCom said, “We would like our customers to enjoy our superior Reliance 3G network with the best broadband speeds for Internet access and uninterrupted data usage at the most competitive price point across all segments. This will ensure maximum benefits to our valued customers across 333 towns in 13 3G circles.”
With the latest price cut, RCom has definitely intensified the 3G price war, initiated by Airtel two weeks ago. Reliance's 3G tariffs, after revision, are much cheaper than the 3G plans offered byIdea Cellular and Airtel.
